INVSN – How Far Have We Fallen CD Kritik (inkl. Track By Track)

INVSN wurde 1998 unter dem Namen The Lost Patrol als Soloprojekt von Dennis Lyxzén, dem Sänger von Refused und The (International) Noise Conspiracy, gegründet. Sie unterlag mehrere Jahre einen Wandel und bekam mehrere Namen. Seit 2013 heißt die Band INVSN. Im Sommer veröffentlichte die Band das Album „Let The Night Love You“ aber ohne den gleichnamigen Song dazu. Der ist allerdings auf dieser EP zu finden. Und schon mal als Teaser: Nach der Review gibt es das englischsprachige Original-Track-By-Track zur EP von der Band. Also die Liner Notes zu den einzelnen Songs auf dieser EP namens „How Far Have We Fallen“.

Die fünf Stücke auf dieser EP stimmen emotional. Aber sie sind gut. Sie sind, wie die Band selbst auch in den Liner Notes (unten nachzulesen) schreibt, keine Überbleibsel der Aufnahmen zum letzten Studioalbum, sondern wurden bewusst aufgenommen für eben diese EP namens „How Far Have We Fallen“.

Es gibt keinen Song, der richtig heraussticht. Allerdings: Das ist nicht schlechtes. Es bedeutet nur, dass es soundtechnisch keine allzu großen Unterschiede gibt. Es ist für genug Abwechslung gesorgt aber in einem bestimmten Rahmen. Der ist zudem auch nicht sonderlich eng gesteckt. Der Sound passt, die Texte ebenfalls und man kann die EP ruhig mehrmals am Stück hören. Auch mit dem Album aus Sommer 2022 zusammen.

HOW FAR HAVE WE FALLEN

Maybe one of our favorite tracks from the album. A slow-moving beautiful track about the state of the world that we are in. We felt that it deserved some more love and that’s why we opted to use this is the main track for the EP.

LET THE NIGHT LOVE YOU

The focus track of the Ep. A great and heavy track that maybe should have been on the album, but we decided to save it for another day. I love this one. Has a fantastic vibe to it and we loved the lyrics so much that we named the album after this track. It’s all about realizing how deeply flawed we are as humans and to accept that. To find the balance between what we are and what we want to be. Also, a big part of the record was written and recorded during the night, and I love to live in the nighttime.

ILLUMINATE THIS

A chaotic and wild track unlike almost anything we’ve ever done. Propulsive and rhythmic. The lyrics deal with surviving domestic and sexual abuse and the aftermath and what it does to people. I love it.

EVERYTHING FADES

The fear and danger of growing up and apart from the ideas the shaped you. How life has a tendency to wear even the most radical person down. I wrote it as a wake-up call to myself when I felt that my anger wasn’t simmering as much as I wanted it to. A cool track with a strangely laid-back vibe.

RISE

The final track of the record is what happens when you have a couple of great ideas but not a great song. We took a couple of different ideas and made a heavy and industrial track about the what late-era capitalism wants from us.

THE EP… was record at the same time when we recorded the record. We were lucky enough to have a lot of great songs and we managed to record 15 tracks in 2 weeks. Early on we decided that there was going to be an EP to compliment the album, so the songs are not the leftovers, but they are tracks that we intended for the EP. We want the album and the Ep to be 2 pieces of the same work of art. To be something that makes the album bigger and better and something that gives the EP a connection.
